Deputies On Pot Bust Trapped In Wilderness

SKAMANIA, Wash. - Sheriff deputies eradicating a marijuana farm became trapped in the Skamania wilderness overnight Saturday.

After a crew took a wrong turn and ended up in a treacherous area, nine deputies were forced to spend the night in the Dog Creek Wilderness. A Coast Guard helicopter attempted to rescue them, but by then it was too dark.

Crews rescued six of the deputies on Sunday morning. Reports say one deputy was cramping up, but the rest were okay.

A Coast Guard helicopter from Astoria flew in later Sunday morning to try and reach the remaining three.
